The Rodman Ride for Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity raising funds for youth focused social-service agencies that support at-risk children in Massachusetts. The Ride for Kids and its affiliated agencies' fundraising initiatives occur year-round, and culminate with The Ride cycling event each fall. Affiliated agencies raise funds through corporate sponsorships and the fundraising efforts of individual riders. In turn, the Ride matches those funds at a rate of 10% when the agencies meet their fundraising goal.
Since we became an affiliated agency in 2008, we have had enormous success with the Ride model. We have achieved these results by helping our board, staff and volunteers reach an important perception shift: we view the Ride as much more than just a bike ride event. We view the Ride as a year-round partnership that offers our donors an amazing return on investment and the opportunity to participate in the Ride as a culminating event.
We view all of our annual events and fundraisers through the lens of our partnership with the Rodman Ride. By asking for corporate and foundation sponsorship through the Ride, we are not only giving our supporters extra recognition opportunities, but also the opportunity to increase their initial investment with the 10% match. We believe that all donors want to maximize their contributions to our high-impact programs! The 10% match is compelling to individuals, corporate sponsors and foundations alike. We try not to limit ourselves or miss an opportunity to talk about the Ride and offer this return on investment.
