The C5 Bridges: Rexam Leadership Challenge
Participants are challenged to demonstrate their leadership skills as they finalize planning and preparation for a 14-day wilderness trek. The trip provides real challenges and real consequences as teens make decisions, solve problems and learn to work together effectively. For the past 5 years this trip has been held in Wyoming, and teens have had the opportunity to visit Yellowstone National Park and some Mid-West colleges as well.
Road to College Tour
Teens plan and participate in a 7 day college tour. They sleep in dorms, take campus tours, and meet with admissions and financial aid counselors and faculty. For many, this experience is the first time college actually seems like a realistic option in their lives. The program is so successful that we have also implemented College Fridays which brings C5 teens to visit different Massachusetts colleges each Friday during the school year.
This week-long community leadership experience is designed to help teens understand how decisions are made and how needs are met in the communities where they live. Teens learn how their local governments work and about the concept of social justice, have the opportunity to meet people who are making a difference in their communities, explore potential solutions to the unique problems faced by their communities and to develop a multimedia presentation about their experiences. After the Summit, youth apply what they’ve learned to a 70-hour community action project in their own neighborhood.
