Lantern Career Exploration Day

Type:  Coverage

On Veterans’ Day members of our C5 Lantern class (current 9th graders) spent their day out of school at Camp Wing participating in our Career Exploration Day! The event was an incredible opportunity for our teens to meet professionals from wildly different backgrounds who have overcome a variety of obstacles on their individual paths to success.

Our teens learned about how many of the curriculum points of our program are applicable in real life. They were reminded by many of the speakers that it is of greatest importance to always represent oneself and one’s community to the highest standards- no showing up for job interviews in tshirts and jeans! All of our speakers stressed the importance of staying in school, working hard, and above all believing in your own goals and being open to new directions. Our Lantern class left for the afternoon energized about the variety of career paths they saw opening up to them!

Special thanks to all our speakers for spending an afternoon sharing their stories and experiences with our Lanterns:
